Mary Doherty

I have several years’ experience in mainstream secondary education. My passion has always been focused on getting the very best out of each child, whether that be going to university or securing an apprenticeship in a chosen trade. I have taught  curriculum from aged 11 to 19 in History, Geography, Religious Education and Sociology as well as some Asdan qualifications. I have line managed SEN departments in my previous two schools. I firmly believe that only a happy child can learn. I was Vice Principal in my last school.

I was inspired to join the Discovery Academy as I hope to be able to help our youngsters strive to be the very best they can be.. The ‘family feel’ at  Discovery is really great and all staff are so committed and supportive. I teach the Humanities subjects – History, Geography and RE to classes I, S, C, O and V as well as PSCHE to class V.
