UPDATE -Tuesday 12th December 2017 - Discovery will be open as usual
Published 10/12/17, byDiscovery site has been made safe today and hence the academy will be open tomorrow – Tuesday 12th Dec. We have enough grit and salt to counter act any overnight freezing.
There are still large amounts of snow in the courtyards and playground. Optional snowballing will be on the field, at a given time, and nowhere else.
All footwear is permissible whilst there is snow on the ground – as are hats, gloves, scarfs, thick socks and any extra layers or coats.
We understand that some families will still be unable to access main roads and that journey times will be increased tomorrow. Beaumont Road is slippy because of the hill, Vernons Lane driveable with care.If you have any concerns about your son / daughter being in school and would rather they were at home we fully understand; all absences tomorrow will be authorised. If you make that decision could you please inform your child’s taxi company direct; we know many of you have driver / escort numbers. Please also contact your class team or the school office to let us know if you are not sending your child into school
After school club will not take place. Hopefully the forecast is right and we can expect a thaw towards the end of the week.
Best wishes from the Discovery Staff Team. - Read More
